(Senior) PHP Backend Engineer (m/f/x)

Build the B2B integration layer of the future and work directly on our core architecture.
YOUR TASKS
This is a unique opportunity for a driven, highly skilled individual who wants to be part of a fast-moving B2B startup from day one. We are looking for experienced software engineers, who want to leverage their expertise to shape our digital infrastructure and take Procuros from the prototype stage to the B2B-integration-layer of the future. This is a greenfield project, meaning that you will have a lot of freedom in designing and working on our core architecture. In doing so, you will be working with data structures and protocols that you likely have never heard of, but your skills and ambition will let you develop creative and unconventional solutions.

Tasks include:

  • Conceptualize our system architecture for core features and new product modules 
  • Solve complex performance problems and architectural challenges
  • Determine the workload and creation of work packages, tasks, and user stories
  • Design, development, and test features and functions 
  • Guide and mentor less experienced team members and help them thrive
  • Ensure your applications are available and reliable
  • Occasionally guide our customers through the integration of the solution you helped to build
YOUR PROFILE
  • You have at least 5 years of experience as a software developer
  • You possess expert knowledge of PHP and Laravel (Queues, Request, Middleware, Cache, Service Containers and Authentication).
  • You have knowledge of SQL (MySQL, Postgres or MariaDB)
  • You are familiar with data structures like XML and JSON
  • You have experience working with RESTful APIs
  • You know how to carry out Testing (Unit, Integration, End-to-End)
  • You have experience with deployment pipelines (CI/CD)
  • You are fluent in English (fluency in German is a plus, but not required) 

Bonus points if

  • You have experience building on cloud infrastructure like (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • You have knowledge of crafting containerized applications with Docker
  • You have experience with SaaS applications
  • You have prior knowledge working with Laravel tools/packages such as (Laravel Nova, Laravel Horizon, and Laravel Scout)
  • You have knowledge of EDI formats and protocols (EDIFACT, cXML, AS2)
  • You have knowledge of EDI transformations (XSD, XSLT, etc.)

HIRING PROCESS
  • Initial Interview: Here we have a verbal non-technical discussion to see if there is a mutual fit. We'll have questions for you about your skills and background, we'll also answer any questions you have for us about the company, compensation structure, culture, and interview process. 
  • Coding Challenge: You will be asked to solve a coding problem related to our work, so you get an idea of what type of problems we are solving in Procuros, and we can evaluate your technical skills.
  • Deep Dive Interview: In this interview, we will be discussing the solution provided by the coding challenge, discussing some technical aspects, and also answering any questions that you still have.
  • Meet the Team: The final step in the interview process includes one or multiple conversations with our founders Patrick & Ben. Also, you'll be meeting your future colleagues.

DEINE AUFGABEN
Dies ist eine einzigartige Chance für eine engagierte, hochqualifizierte Person, die vom ersten Tag an Teil eines sich schnell entwickelnden B2B-Startups sein möchte. 
Wir suchen erfahrene Software-Engineers (m/w/x), die ihr Fachwissen nutzen wollen, um unsere digitale Infrastruktur zu gestalten und Procuros vom Prototypenstadium zur B2B-Integrationsschicht der Zukunft zu führen. Es handelt sich um ein Greenfield-Projekt, indem Du viel Freiheit bei der Gestaltung und Arbeit an unserer Systemarchitektur haben wirst. Dabei wirst Du mit Datenstrukturen und Protokollen arbeiten, wobei Deine Fähigkeiten und Dein Ehrgeiz Dir helfen werden kreative und unkonventionelle Lösungen zu finden.

Zu Deinen Aufgaben gehört unter anderem:
  • Konzeptionierung unserer Systemarchitektur für Kernfunktionen und neue Produktmodule 
  • Direkte Zusammenarbeit mit unserem CTO
  • Bestimmung des Arbeitsaufwands und Erstellung von Arbeitspaketen, Aufgaben und User Stories
  • Design, Entwicklung und Test von Features und Funktionen 
  • Führung und Betreuung weniger erfahrener Teammitglieder und Unterstützung ihrer Entwicklung
  • Sicherstellung, dass Ihre Anwendungen verfügbar und zuverlässig sind
  • Gelegentlich Anleitung unserer Kunden bei der Integration der selbstentwickelten Lösung
DEIN PROFIL
  • Du hast mindestens 5-7 Jahre Erfahrung als Softwareentwickler
  • Du verfügst über fundierte Kenntnisse in PHP und Laravel
  • Du hast Kenntnisse in SQL (MySQL, Postgres oder Maria)
  • Du bist vertraut mit Datenstrukturen wie XML und JSON
  • Du hast Erfahrung im Umgang mit RESTful APIs
  • Du weißt, wie man Tests durchführt (Unit, Integration End-to-End)
  • Du hast Erfahrung mit Deployment Pipelines (CI/CD)
  • Du sprichst fließend Englisch (fließend Deutsch ist ein Plus, aber nicht erforderlich)

  • Kenntnisse in Serverless PHP (Laravel Vapor, Bref)
